Because I’m a glutton for punishment, I decided to take Intercultural Communications over Winter session for funsies. I don’t need this class, and none of the classes I do need were available for this session, but I figured why not? Personal growth, easy A, and it has a zero cost textbook? Take my $31 in administrative fees and sign me up!
So far we’re two weeks in and it’s been really interesting. We have homework and quizzes due every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and this Friday we had a project due where we had to make a poster or video (2 minutes runtime) showing our personal culture, without any words.
After panicking for a minute and asking Jenn and John “who the hell am I?!?” I had a good place to start. I got my video finished and it included things like the communities around my hobbies and interests (yarncraft, cross stitch, letter writing, music) to my sexuality (kink, nudism, bisexuality) to my love of pets and family. Then I had to write a paper explaining how this things in the video make it harder or easier to communicate with other people. It was supposed to be 2 or 3 pages and I could have easily filled 10. As it is, I wrote 3.5 and curbed it.
I’m done with work in that class until Monday, and tomorrow I have two Dr appointments which hopefully won’t overlap.
