Wednesday I went to class, and my math instructor announced the quiz would be “open friend” and that “a lot of you need help so ask for it!”
I was the first person to finish and immediately had other students lining up to ask me questions. I got a perfect score on the quiz, so I know at least a couple other people did equally well.
After that was anatomy lecture, and at the end of class I asked about making up the exam. He said I could come to the lab and take it then. Obviously I said okay and headed to the lab.
He put me in a storage room and have me the exam. I think I did okay on it but I don’t know how well. But some points are always better than no points!
When I got home I had a history assignment due that night so I got on it and got it done. I’m not completely happy with what I turned in, but I suspect it will be okay.
Thursday I didn’t do much of anything. Today I panicked, realizing it was Friday already, and slogged through about half of my Spanish work for the week. I’ll be finishing it tomorrow one way or another.
Right now my laptop is downloading a huge 12 gigabyte update and I’m watching music videos. I would be studying the human skeleton but I’m too tired to actually absorb anything right now.
So Thursday I met with my Department of Rehab counselor and she gave me some great news. She said they could off-set home of the cost for up to four Spanish classes by buying the textbooks! This is such a boon for me!
We also worked out the costs for what the DoR will cover for the next semester in terms of fees, books, and parking, so now I just need to check back with the office in a week or so and see what’s going on with my textbooks. Squeeee! I’m so fucking excited though!
I talked to Nikki a couple nights ago and she commented that it’s great to see me so happy and excited about actual life. Made me laugh, but she’s right. I feel like I have purpose again and it’s thrilling.
I also received a human anatomy study aid / coloring and activity book in the mail today from a kind near-stranger and it’s way better than I expected. It looks like it’s going to be a really good resource for me.

And the rest of my bounty, courtesy of the people of the internet, has arrived! Notebooks, scientific calculator, tablet case, pens, thumb drive, pencil sharpener, stickers. I cannot say thank you enough to the kind souls who purchased these things for me. #goodpeopleexist #randomactsofkindness
The rest of the items that were so graciously gifted to me have arrived!
More notebooks, pens (black ink), a thumb drive, a little sharpener, more stickers, a case for my Kindle, a calculator… I will be set with this stuff for at least 3 semesters. The only thing I’m going to need are scantron sheets.
Monday is my registration date at College of the Canyons, and I’ve finally settled on a class schedule. I’ll be going for about 7 hours on Mondays, and about 4 and a half hours on Wednesdays. It’ll be tough, but it’ll mean 4 less hours a week I spend in my car driving.
I’ve also got $105 towards my Spanish textbook from selling yarn and I may be able to sell a little more still. The goal of course is to not have to borrow from my mom – I already owe the Bank of Mom a lot of money.
I’ve got a few short subsections of pre-algebra left in the Khan Academy app. It’s mostly scientific notation and while it’s not difficult, today just wasn’t the right day to try to slot through it.
I took Moppie to the vet first thing this morning for her followup and she got a clean bill of health. Dr Debbie said she’s a bit anemic but it’s to be expected with all the blood draws this week and all the iv fluids.
I planted pepper seeds a week ago and I currently have 4 tiny seedlings that have come up! I’m super excited about them, but since they’re going to be houseplants, I’ll likely have to manually polinate them. Pretty sure a paint brush will work for that.
I went on Amazon and I made a little wishlist of items I still need for school. It was stuff like notebooks, a pencil sharpener, pens, some less serious stuff like planner stickers too.
I posted the wishlist link in a couple of my social profiles and some incredibly kind soul whom I barely know purchased most of the items on the list.
I feel like the Grinch when his heart grew so many sizes. I know none of the items were very expensive, but knowing someone had enough faith in me to pick up a few of these things – it’s incredible.
We see so much hate in the world every day but there’s still people like that person doing good deeds that make it seem worthwhile. I’m making a note of their name so I can return the favor later this year when money isn’t so tight.
And for all you haters who think Ravelry is a horrible place, it happened there because we take care of each other. We’re a community. Parts of us are like families.
Update: every damn item on my school supplies wishlist was purchased plus some items off my regular wishlist. I can’t thank you all enough!
