We’re two weeks into the Fall semester. So far, so good, but I’m beyond exhausted because pets.
8 days ago, we found a litter of day old kittens with no mum. Two of them. That means I’m doing around the clock feedings, about every three hours. As soon as I get into a good sleep, my alarm goes off. But the amazing folks at LSG have sent or donated supplies and money to buy pretty much everything these guys could need until they’re weaned and ready to find their forever homes.
10 days ago, Millie went to the vet and had to stay overnight to try to get a urinary sample. She was peeing on the kitchen counters. She has a UTI, so twice a day meds and I’m pretty sure she’s going to hate me forever… Lol.
2 days ago, I set up an extra tall baby gate outside the kitchen. 1) to keep dogs out while cooking 2) to stop litter box raids 3) to give the cats a part of the house without dogs in it. It’s been a mixed result with the boys and the gate. Both Yuba and Tejón can jump over it easily, even though it’s almost 45″ tall. But I’m working on teaching them that good, calm boys who sit behind the gate get lots of treats. Might take a while though.
I got the 55 gallon tank set up, and I moved Juice and Goose into it. They were doing great, I used cycled filters to pretty much instantly cycle it. Two days later, Juice was dead when I woke up. I have no idea what happened to her. 🙁
After a few days, Goose was acting upset because he no longer had a buddy, so I spent several hours driving all over the valley looking for friends for him. The weather has been way too hot to try to have a friend shipped to me, so I was on a mission to find a pair of lively, healthy pet store fancy goldfish.
After visiting three stores, I saw two goldies I really liked. An orange and white oranda, and a silver and black ryukin, which a button eye. Unfortunately, they’re both really small and Goose was terrorizing them, so Goose went back to the 75 gallon and the two babies have the 55 gallon all to themselves right now. They’ve settled in really nicely though now that Goose isn’t in there bothering them.
Tejon scraped his elbow a couple weeks ago, and now that it should be healed, it isn’t, because he’s been fussing over it constantly. Ugh. He might need a shirt until it heals.
The Fall semester starts in about 3 weeks. I’m looking forward to it but I’m also stressing a little. But I know as long as I get all my homework in in Spanish 102, I’ll pass. I probably know a lot more than I think I do.
I’ve also been finding ways to basically automate Plex and its been really fun to get things set up and going, but I want to set up a dedicated computer to act as the PMS for my household because all this stuff really is pretty resource intensive. I’ve been watching Dell.com for a decent machine with plenty of RAM and a good processor to either go on sale or show up in the Outlet.
I also finally, after over a year with only one pair of pants, 2 dresses, and maybe 6 shirts, ordered new clothes. I got a bunch of tops, and enough pants and shorts to wear a different pair every day of the week. I also ordered new shows which I really, really needed, and I was able to throw out all my torn, holey clothes, and donate things in good repair that don’t fit. I bought clothing suitable for summer, fall, and winter.
Tomorrow I’ll be culling more stuff to donate and throw out, and seeing what I can do about my closet space so I ccan actually put all my new clothes away.
