The last few days have been crazy. I’ve been feeling under the weather for a couple weeks, with an elevated heart rate. Wednesday I finished my Anatomy exam and took myself to the ER. My heart rate was sitting at about 130 and they ran all kinds of tests. An EKG, blood, urine, chest x-ray, and a CT scan because they thought I might have a blood clot in my chest. They couldn’t find anything wrong with me, just a mysteriously rapid heart beat.
By midnight I had horrible heartburn, and driving home at almost 3am, I had to pull over twice to vomit. To make things even better, I dropped my glasses into the vomit, and I shit myself a little. That was a fun drive home.
Thursday afternoon, my mom was in town after work and some dumb test turned left in front of her when she had the right of way. Her truck is totaled, the other car is, and today we went into town to pick up her rental.
It’s a almost brand new Lexus 3 0 i and it’s dripping with leather and power everything. It’s really, really nice. She hates it because it’s different from her truck. After we got the car, we went to get lunch and she wasn’t too impressed with the food. I feel a little bad that everything this week is making her unhappy.
A few days before all this I went to town to get fish food and I came home with no fish food and 6 platys. The platys are fun to watch, little pops of color swimming around nibbling the plants. I do hope they have babies though. There’s 3 sunsets and 3 blue wags. I’m honestly not sure if there are any males though, most of them look female to me.
I did some Googling and the black tetras are black Neon tetras. They’re pretty flashy for not having bright colors, which means I can really enjoy them without Lola feeling threatened by them.
Since my tank is mostly stocked now I went ahead and ordered some stuff for the boys. A new bed for Tejony, toys, treats, and a can of freeze dried brine shrimp for the fishes.
I have another bag nearly filled with donations and I’m hoping to finish filling it plus a second bag over the weekend. I’d also like to get some crafting done today but I dunno about that… Lol.
I ended up with a 29 gallon instead of a 20 long- same footprint but a bit taller. Lola still hates the guppies but not as aggressively now that there’s a lot more space. I did lose one (never did see the body) but the other two are doing well. I’ve also added 8 zebra danios and 6 black tetras. There’s also a black mystery snail and a gold inca snail. I’ve added more plants too which I hope take off and grow like mad. I might add a bristlenose pleco if I can find one but that should be about it.
I destashed and donated 4 bags of craft supplies, finished crafts, and books, plus the two small acrylic tanks and all their accessories. That let me free up quite a bit of space so I could clean up a bit more. I have a few boxes to break down and take out still, plus a comic book box that housed sewing patterns that I can unfold and store in the closet.
Last week on the 5th I started class. BIOSCI100. Its mostly review for me so far but its fun. Not too challenging but we’ll see how I do on the first exam. I still need to find a partner for the presentation we have to give and choose a topic. I have a few ideas but gotta find a partner first.
I woke up today starving but I couldn’t eat because I needed to go do fasting blood work for labs at my new Dr’s. I’m thinking okay, go in, a quick stick, and I can eat, do whatever else, and go home.
I had to wait over an hour before they called me in. Then I see they don’t have a dedicated person to draw blood. This won’t be good. I tell her I’m a hard stick, my veins are tiny, deep, and they hide.
She sticks me in the crook of my left elbow after I tell her that’s my good arm. No blood. She sticks me in the middle of my left forearm. No blood.
She questions if she should try again. I tell her I didn’t starve for nothing and I’m not leaving until she gets her samples.
She looks at my right arm, and spies a vein in my right hand. She sticks it…. And blood drips one drop at a time into the tube.
Ten minutes later, she has less than an inch of blood in each of three tubes. She hands me a cup to pee in. I had to the bathroom, pee in the cup, and apologize for being a hard stick. She apologizes for sticking me three times… Lol.
I had to McDonald’s to grab something to eat. Had over to Michael’s to get the floss colors I still need for my project. Bought washi tape I didn’t realize I already had.
Went to Walmart and bought a 6″ box to ship stuff in. Should have gotten 2 of them but I didn’t realize other stuff that won’t fit in padded mailers was going to sell today after I got home.
Went to Petsmart. After much deliberation I chose three male guppies which I intended to put in my vacant 5.5 gallon tank.
Got home with the guppies. Floated them on the tank. Water starts pooling around the tank. It’s not overflow. Shit. Tank is leaking. Bail water into the sink until tank is half empty. Carry tank to the bathroom and sit it in the bathtub.
Float bag with guppies in Lola’s tank. Lola is angry about the intruders. When I release the guppies into the tank, she starts hunting them.
If she’s not settled down by tomorrow, I’ll be picking up a 20 long to set up to replace all 3 small tanks and create a new space with no established territories.
I told Lola to stop being so angry but she’s not listening.
After posting a thread querying about Hermit Crabs, which I decided are not for me for a variety of reasons, I decided to plant my tank, and get pretty snails and shrimp. The shrimp are being picked out in a few days, but the snails are thriving! They have plants and algae & zucchini wafers to nosh on.
And Omg! I had no idea they were going to be so much fun!
I have 1 nerite snail and 4 mystery snails (two gold, one blue, one purple) and they’re way more entertaining than I ever would have thought!
Anyone else a fan of these guys?
When I go to pick out my shrimp, I plan on picking up more plants, plus a few pretty female bettas.
I hope you like the videos – they’re so fun!
I had the weirdest dream. I was at a huge 3 story mall and I had returned something and got $26 back. A $20, a $5, and a $1.
I was walking the mall, and this guy in bad drag picked my pocket and kept pretending to give me back my money but it was all obvious fakes. $3 bills and stuff.
Somehow I knew he was really a fish and I got him to change back to his fish form so I put him in a baggie and took him to the mall cops. He was a danio. But he died in the bag before it was my turn (I had to wait in line until they called my number) and they could make him give my money back.
The mall cop gave me $26 after writing up so crazy report that the pet store overcharged me by that much and a refund was owed, and then I got in my car and drove home.
The craft thing at the Antelope Valley Indian Museum was kinda weird this year. Only two artists signed up, including myself, and the evening of, I was the only one to show up.
I did fairly well though and the octopus and owl stuffies I made sold pretty quickly. I didn’t sell all of them, but I did sell several. Kids loved them.
I ended up making I think it was $37 over my table fee which is pretty good for such a small event. I took that $37,and turned it into this :
There’s a pleco in there too somewhere – my mom bought me the fishies today. I’ve named the Oranda Alberta. 🙂
Yuba is still growing – he and Tejon are unit into ponies. Kinda makes me wonder how big he’s going to get… Lol.
I bought a drop spindle and some fiber so I can learn to spin. I’ve only tried it a little but I think I’ll like it when I get the hang of it.
I haven’t been cleaning much the last week and a half because I killed my back moving a TV but I am trying to track down the parts we need to fix the furnace. The house hasn’t had heat in literally years and it gets freaking cold in winter.
Here’s a quick pic of some stuff.
My little Christmas tree and my super festive eyeball garland! And my super colorful curtains! Ignore the plastic bag and my shoes… Lol.
I spent almost all day on Sunday cleaning. I went through my cedar chest and my craft room, and I found a ton more stuff to donate that I just don’t love enough to leave up in my shop. I rearranged furniture. I put things away. I’m not pleased with where I moved Bill’s tank to (I can’t see him from my bed anymore), but overall I am happy with where everything else is.
Monday a really nice family came out to meet Hawk, and they took him home. He jumped right in the car with them and happily ate the canned food they brought him. I feel pretty confident he’s a good match for their family and I hope he really does get his forever with them- he deserves it.
Later in the evening, another family came and got 5 roosters from us. I helped my mom catch them and each one was tucked into a feed bag for easy transport. Its pretty quiet without them crowing at all odd hours.
Wednesday, Yuba is scheduled for his neutering. I have to be up at 630am to get him there at 8am for the drop off. I feel bad for him because he’s not yet at the “car rides are amazing!” stage of dogdom and he’s my shy boy so the vet is terrifying. But its important that he be neutered, and neutered early, because 1) I don’t want him lifting his leg, and 2) I don’t want him getting up to no good with his mama if they don’t get her spayed.
My mom mentioned that they might want to find a new home for one of the other female dogs… I don’t know who would take her though. She’s mean and she’s crazy. They bred her once and she chewed the heads off of most of the puppies. Yuba’s dad was one of the only survivors. Yes, crazy is in my pup’s genes, but he’s pretty even tempered so far. Anyway, I hope if they do decide to get rid of her, I can find somewhere for her to go. They really need a lot less animals.
I’ve also slowed way down on the body mods. It’s been at least a month since my last piercings and I don’t really feel the need to go out and get the next one. I feel content right now.
