And the rest of my bounty, courtesy of the people of the internet, has arrived! Notebooks, scientific calculator, tablet case, pens, thumb drive, pencil sharpener, stickers. I cannot say thank you enough to the kind souls who purchased these things for me. #goodpeopleexist #randomactsofkindness
The rest of the items that were so graciously gifted to me have arrived!
More notebooks, pens (black ink), a thumb drive, a little sharpener, more stickers, a case for my Kindle, a calculator… I will be set with this stuff for at least 3 semesters. The only thing I’m going to need are scantron sheets.
Monday is my registration date at College of the Canyons, and I’ve finally settled on a class schedule. I’ll be going for about 7 hours on Mondays, and about 4 and a half hours on Wednesdays. It’ll be tough, but it’ll mean 4 less hours a week I spend in my car driving.
I’ve also got $105 towards my Spanish textbook from selling yarn and I may be able to sell a little more still. The goal of course is to not have to borrow from my mom – I already owe the Bank of Mom a lot of money.
I’ve got a few short subsections of pre-algebra left in the Khan Academy app. It’s mostly scientific notation and while it’s not difficult, today just wasn’t the right day to try to slot through it.
I took Moppie to the vet first thing this morning for her followup and she got a clean bill of health. Dr Debbie said she’s a bit anemic but it’s to be expected with all the blood draws this week and all the iv fluids.
I planted pepper seeds a week ago and I currently have 4 tiny seedlings that have come up! I’m super excited about them, but since they’re going to be houseplants, I’ll likely have to manually polinate them. Pretty sure a paint brush will work for that.
So tonight was the annual Holidays in the Homestead at the Antelope Valley Indian Museum. I’ve participated as a vendor I think 4 years in a row now, including one year when I was the only vendor who showed up. That was an interesting but pretty profitable night .. Lol.
Tonight there a a good turnout with 5 vendors and a pretty good turnout of guests. I was really apprehensive about the stock I was bringing because I was going to be focused on things that were new to me and steering away from jewelry. Turns out that was a good move because 80% of the other vendors’ offerings were jewelry.
I took several small finished cross stitch designs (3 sold), stuffed toys (I sold 2 or 3 I can’t remember), crocheted flower hair clips (sold 4 pair), cotton face scrubbies (sold 4 or 5 I think), Halloween magnets (I sold most of the bats), $1 bracelets (sold 2), and shockingly I sold 2 of my 3 paintings. I didn’t sell any earrings.
The stuffed toys I sold pretty cheaply because I’m running out of room to store them. I let the paintings go inexpensively as well simply because they were quick and inexpensive to make.
I ended up making $85 over the cost of my table, so it was a pretty successful night and fun too.
There were a few people who wanted things for less then it costs to make them but most people were pretty decent about the prices.
Afterwards, I put my cash in at the ATM and grabbed a bite to eat When I got home I paid off a small bill and Monday I’ll see about replacing one of my tires. My mom has informed me she won’t accept any repayment of what I owe her until I get at least one new tire… Lol.
The craft thing at the Antelope Valley Indian Museum was kinda weird this year. Only two artists signed up, including myself, and the evening of, I was the only one to show up.
I did fairly well though and the octopus and owl stuffies I made sold pretty quickly. I didn’t sell all of them, but I did sell several. Kids loved them.
I ended up making I think it was $37 over my table fee which is pretty good for such a small event. I took that $37,and turned it into this :
There’s a pleco in there too somewhere – my mom bought me the fishies today. I’ve named the Oranda Alberta. 🙂
Yuba is still growing – he and Tejon are unit into ponies. Kinda makes me wonder how big he’s going to get… Lol.
I bought a drop spindle and some fiber so I can learn to spin. I’ve only tried it a little but I think I’ll like it when I get the hang of it.
I haven’t been cleaning much the last week and a half because I killed my back moving a TV but I am trying to track down the parts we need to fix the furnace. The house hasn’t had heat in literally years and it gets freaking cold in winter.
Here’s a quick pic of some stuff.
My little Christmas tree and my super festive eyeball garland! And my super colorful curtains! Ignore the plastic bag and my shoes… Lol.
I’m not really angry anymore, but I am contemplating unfriending Mattie on Facebook, and his mom too. My curiosity got the better of me, and I went trolling back to his posts when he announced our breakup. There was rather a lot of shit talking, which amounted to me being a crazy bitch, a terrible cook (his mother agreed on this even though she’s never eaten my cooking?), and there were comments about how at least I wouldn’t be trying to poison him any longer. Granted, I said some things here, but I did not post things like that where he was likely to see them nor did I encourage my friends to badmouth him. I asked him on Saturday for space- and he hasn’t respected that at all so far because he’s still sending me messages and chattering away at me just like nothing had happened. He’s refusing to respect my “no” and that’s not okay.
At the urging of a friend, I joined FetLife, which is a rather interesting place. Basically its Facebook for fetistists/kinksters. Creating my profile was interesting, as has been browsing the site in general. I found a few people I know right off, which honestly, while nice, was not a surprise. Some of the people I found I’m quite fond of, while others… well, I won’t be communicating with them there, either. But such is social networking, right?
I think I’ve lost a few pounds over these last few weeks, though not because I was trying. If I’ve been out of the house, I’ve eaten once per day, and at home, maybe twice, and half the time its been salad. I just don’t have an appetite most days. Am I depressed? I’m honestly not sure. On the surface I feel pretty good- I’m free of the confines of the unhappiness of my last relationship, and I can do what I want now. I can focus on making myself happy, instead of someone who can’t be happy no matter what I did. I’m free to branch out, meet new people, pursue what I like, and say no to what I don’t. But at the same time, I’m unhappy at having to have had to move back to my mom’s. This is not my home. I honestly don’t know where home is at this point and I feel somewhat unmoored.
I saw my psychologist yesterday and I requested a refill on my Klonopin Rx. I still have several left, but I like having it just in case. I took one every night the week we broke up, but haven’t touched them since. And I’ve been working off of the same 30 tablets for over a year so its not like I just take them all the time.
Today I was supposed to meet with County Mental Health’s Employment Specialist, but I cancelled and rescheduled my appointment for after the first. I messed up my finances pretty badly this month and I don’t have gas money to make trips I absolutely don’t have to into town. I sold some stuff at the beginning of the month, and I had less expenses, but between paying off some small debts and eating in town a lot, I managed to overspend for the month and now I’m counting pennies until next month’s money comes in. Next month will be better though. I just need to track my spending better and stick to my budget. I can do this.
I also saw Princess yesterday and we hung out for a little while. It was nice to see her and nicer to see she’d gotten rid of her husband. Seems to be a lot of that going around. She’s looking fabulous though and the kids- OMG! The girl is 14 now and beautiful, and the oldest boy is 6 foot and trying to learn to play guitar. I was like damn it. I feel so old seeing them as closer to adulthood then babyhood.
I did get most of my stuff tucked away into the spare room, so I can say most of my belongings have been put up. There’s still a few things laying around the house, but its still progress made. And my mom is making an effort (finally) to clean up the rest of the house. She’s sent me into town with 4 kitchen trash bags full of stuff to be donated, and thrown away a bunch more. Of course there’s still a ton to go through but any progress is good. I still need to get her to take in the old electronics to the drop off and that would clear out a lot of space in the house. But baby steps….
And I got rid of almost half of my yarn! Stuff I wasn’t completely in love with I sold, with a few more still to go. It made a big difference in getting things put away.
Here’s what’s gone out of my craft room over the last week! Woohoo! No wonder my space feels better.
Shopping bags of stuff donated – 15
– including almost 5 miles of yarn
– 5 pounds of beads
– 4 bags of clothing
– 1 kitchen trash bag of fabric scraps
Emptied storage containers – 1 tackle box, 1 large shipping tote, 6 shoe drawers, 4 5″ x 8″ bead containers
Bags of trash thrown out – 4
Missing things found – 1 hat I thought was stolen
WIPs discovered – 3
And here’s the way everything looks now… This is the closet nook, with its permanently stained floor and tight space. It doesn’t look great, but it does look so much better.
On the left side is the majority of my fabrics.
On the right side is batting, fleece, felt, purse handles, and zippers.
In between is a bag of fiber fill, bubble wrap, and some reusable shopping totes. There’s shipping supplies and unused yarn storage on the tops.
Along that same wall is the “wall of yarn”. The big yarn wall. I’ll be donating a few more skeins (some of the stuff piled on top) of yarn tomorrow. There’s a lot here but its mostly sorted by type and I can easily find what I’m after.
Also, it looks pretty. 🙂
The beading table, wire shelf holding my large skeins of yarn, and a few articles of clothing hanging up. There’s still some clutter off to the left, but most of that will be either donated or taken to a crafty day and passed around and what’s not claimed will be donated. I really want to find a more aesthetic solution for storage here but there’s so many tiny bits and pieces, I’m not sure what else I could use.
The sewing desk, my thread on the walls, and my dress forms. The cardboard boxes on the beading table are waiting for addresses to be shipped out, hopefully in the next few days.
The little yarn wall, and my earring displays. And Sashi. Sashi is very important.
This morning I was up super early (it was still dark out- blergh!) and had to take FIL to two Dr’s appointments. That was easy enough though I really wanted to stay home and snuggle with Sashi, and then he asked that we drive over to Palmdale for Tommy’s… Home of the Cat Food Pate’ Chili everything. I ordered my burger “no chili,” thanks. He gave me a few bucks for gas and I dropped him off and went home.
Dinner tonight was a big pot of chili. My second time making edible chili, and I made a few changes to the recipe. I added a shredded bell pepper and a bunch of Tapatio. It was better, but I think next time I will add some fresh chopped tomatoes, more cumin, and maybe some different kinds of beans to mix it up a bit more. It was good though, better than last time, and we’ll be eating the leftovers tomorrow over Fritos.
I was supposed to have a violin lesson today too but she cancelled last minute and rescheduled for Friday. My bass lesson is Friday too, so apparently it will be a day for music. Last night I went to uke club and took my concert uke, which I played some but mostly I just sang. It was just what I wanted to do. 🙂
Very little knitting got done today.
Working on some cool braided cables- a few repeats at a time.
Well, if you’re here, you’ve probably followed me over from my WordPress.com hosted site and now you’re here. And as of about fifteen minutes ago, I have a shiny new top level domain name for this blog. Its not a fancy one, but for $0.99 I’m pretty happy with it. Seriously, no reason to spend $15 a year to indulge my ego, ya know?
Tonight the super nice lady I met in Winco came by to pick up her pussy hat, and asked if we might try to be friends. She introduced me to her husband and said most of the people they’ve met here were religious types and that wasn’t working for them. I’m not sure if it was the pussy hat or the stuff amigurumi penises on my shop website that clued her in that I’m definitely not into the big G or super conservative. But either way, maybe we will click and we will all win with new friends. 🙂 I’m hopeful.
I’ve been trying to add new things to my shop but its kind of hit or miss. Mostly its just new items I’ve just made going up, and not the scads of things I made before and never put up. Maybe I will get a handful of them photographed and listed tomorrow.
I still have no idea what’s going on with my disability appeal. And of course the website doesn’t offer me any help in finding out either. Waiting… it sucks.
My Instant Pot is still awesome and makes all the things. I did a beef roast tonight with gravy and a green salad, and tomorrow I’m sure I will use it again- I’ve used it almost every night since it arrived! Love it!
Lucy is continuing her downhill trudge and has been crapping in the house, mostly on the couch, and almost every day. I know she’s old and doesn’t have control any more but ugh. I’m tired of picking up poop all the time. Sashi on the other hand… she’s her normal, boisterous, and outgoingly happy self.
